Randy Estabrook was drawn to ceramics after the duties of his woodworking company pushed him farther away from the hands-on work of building custom furniture. Looking for a medium that would fulfill that connection to form and hands-on expression, he wandered into the Torpedo Factory Art League School and became immersed in the theraputic nature of wheel throwing. The expression of form, creation and the endless possibilities of glaze and firing techniques was capturing.
Randy has worked with many different clay bodies and utilizes methods such as electric, gas, and wood firing in his work. Drawn to the unpredictability of various glaze combinations and firings, Randy strives for the complex composition and colors they create.
Randy’s work is primarily functional ceramics, but does include sculptural wall hung pieces.
Randy’s work can be viewed at calvART Gallery in Prince Frederick Md and at browndogclaystudio.com
