Carole Thieme

Formally trained as a graphic designer as well as a fine artist, Carole holds a BFA in Visual Design from Auburn University. Her background over the years has spanned both graphic design and fine arts.

When she lived in Florida, she exhibited in many juried shows across the southeast and was a regular award winner in oil, acrylic, and fiber arts. When she and her family moved to Alexandria, Carole was juried into the Torpedo Factory, where she exhibited her fiber art wall hangings and soft sculptures. She has works in private collections across the southeast and the Mid-Atlantic area, and as far away as California.

Today, she works exclusively in acrylic and pencil. Her favored subject areas, in addition to portrait commissions for both people and family pets, are florals, still life studies, and waterscapes of local area creeks and coves.

She is a member of CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, and has work exhibited there as well as Annmarie Garden in Solomons, Horizons on the Bay in Chesapeake Beach, and the Art Center in the Furniture Gallery in Prince Frederick. She is a member of the Color and Light Society of Southern Maryland and served as president in 2012-2013.

She is owner/president of Thieme Creative Media since 1985, with clients across the mid-Atlantic area as well as Missouri, California, Texas, and Illinois. Visit her graphic design website at
